Company Overview

The Department of Geography at Kent State University is home to 14 full-time faculty, 80 graduate students, and 300 undergraduate majors. We offer B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Geography, an interdisciplinary B.A. in Environmental Studies, and a fully online Master of GIS. We are also part of Kent State’s rapidly expanding global presence, with courses in Kent State-Florence and the American Academy in Brazil, among other locations.

With over 3,000 employees, Kent State is one of the largest university systems in the nation and is recognized as a “Great College to Work For” by The Chronicle of Higher Education. Located halfway between New York and Chicago, the main campus of Kent State is located in the city of Kent, Ohio, which was rated by Zillow as one of the top two college towns in the United States. The Cleveland/Akron metropolitan area is a vibrant cultural and industrial region, and is also home to many outdoor activities, particularly in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, just minutes from campus.

The Department of Geography was founded in 1913 as one of the original departments of Kent State University. We celebrated our centennial in 1913 and look forward to the next 100 years,
