- Assistant Professor, Human-Environment Geography
Description
The Department of Geography at University Nevada, Reno invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in Human-Environment Geography. We seek a dynamic scholar with research and teaching interests that engage with current issues in environmental justice, with a focus on energy and/or water sustainability. We are particularly interested in scholars with applied or theoretical expertise in one or more of the following areas: political ecology, energy and society relations, water governance, and community-engaged research. The position entails research, teaching, and service, with a start date of July 1, 2026.
Commitment to active pedagogy, student success, and excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching is essential. Desired qualities include an ability to teach courses such as Issues in Environmental Justice, Identity and the Environment, Sustainable Cities and Communities, and courses related to the candidate’s area of specialization.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in geography or a directly related field at the time of appointment and demonstrated focus on human-environment relations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience engaging in community partnerships and/or scientific teamwork
- Record of excellence in teaching and research
- Record of extramural funding
- Evidence of work with diverse or underrepresented students, communities or groups
